My name is Patrick Davis. I am a Registered Psychotherapist offering video therapy to men across Ontario. I help men explore unconscious patterns, discover meaning, and build deeper relationships with themselves.
Therapy for men seeking authenticity, meaning, and depth.
My clients are typically intelligent, self-reflective, and outwardly successful — yet they carry a persistent sense that something is missing, or that they haven’t “grown up” in some key way. They are often experiencing some combination of anxiety, shame, low self-esteem, anger, resentment, or relationship issues.
I provide a non-judgmental space for them to feel seen, heard and understood. It’s important for men to share their struggles, fears, and shames with other caring and supportive men. This goes against much of our cultural conditioning but it helps us feel that we’re not alone and that we’re actually okay.
My approach is rooted in Jungian and archetypal psychology, meaning we will strive to uncover the deeper, often unconscious dynamics that are beneath your issues. I also integrate mindfulness to help you develop a healthier relationship with your feelings and emotions. And I try to help you discover who you are underneath your fears, limiting beliefs, and cultural conditioning.
My practice is well-suited to those who are thoughtful, open to self-inquiry, and drawn to deeper forms of psychological work.
Sessions are offered virtually and are 60 minutes in length. My current fee is $180 per session. I provide receipts for insurance reimbursement under the title of Registered Psychotherapist (RP).
What would you like to bring to therapy today?
You may tell me about an encounter with your boss that made you feel angry or upset. You may tell me about persistent fear of failure and self-critical thoughts. Or you may tell me about a dream that left you feeling excited or scared.
Whatever you share becomes the material that we will work with. Depending on what arises, I will draw on different theories or traditions, or propose different practices.
Five key components of my approach:
Mindfulness
The skill of paying close attention to your experiences. Once you become aware of how you think, feel, act, and relate to others, you can begin to question why, and then make changes.
Body-focused practices
We will work with the sensations that arise in your body when you are emotionally activated. We will practice tolerating distress, and we will access and transform old patterns of emotional reactivity.
Dreamwork
Dreams portray the inner dynamics of the psyche using the language of metaphorical imagery. We will use tools like free association to learn from your dream images.
Parts work
Our psyches are made up of multiple parts, often with conflicting agendas. We will bring your parts into awareness and communication with each other, to achieve better balance and integration.
self-compassion
Many people are tormented by a powerful inner critic. We will work to deconstruct its harsh messages, while cultivating fierce self-acceptance and self-compassion.
